A2LA is a professional society run for and by
its members. Membership dues are separate and distinct from accreditation
fees. Accreditation is attained after an application has been completed,
fees paid, assessment performed, and a decision made by the Accreditation
Council. A laboratory does not have to be a member to be accredited,
and accreditation by itself does not confer membership.
Each member will have one vote for officers and directors
of the Association during each election, except as noted below.
US $100.00/year Individual Member ($240 for three years). Any person interested in
the development of a voluntary nationwide accreditation system for identifying
and formally recognizing the competence of all types of testing laboratories.
US $200.00/year Institutional Member ($480 for three years). Any educational, scientific,
engineering, or technical society interested in supporting a voluntary
nationwide accreditation system for identifying and formally recognizing
the competence of all types of testing laboratories.
US $400.00/year Organizational Member($720 for three years). Any corporation
or major unit of a corporation or a trade association.
NOTE: A2LA bylaws limit voting membership from accredited
commercial laboratories to less than 50 percent of the total membership.
Each applicant will be classified as to whether or not affiliated with
a laboratory that sells its services outside the corporate structure.
Should the voting limitation become necessary, it will be on a last-in
basis.
