Instructions for Accessing DocPack Packages

In our further efforts to reduce the transmission of paper documents, A2LA is implementing a new way to distribute documents to the Accreditation Council. In the very near future, you will see a link for a ZIP file for each assessment. This ZIP file will contain all of the documents necessary for your review, as well as an organized interface to help you navigate the package. Once downloaded, these documents are available for your use and review without maintaining a connection to the internet. This will allow you to review these packages wherever you may be without the need to install any additional software on your computer.

To use this ZIP file, please follow these instructions.

  1. Download the ZIP file to your computer.
  2. Extract the ZIP file to a location of your choice. In general, you should be able to right-click on the ZIP file and choose Extract Files. The Extraction Wizard will walk you through the extraction process. Please choose a location that ensures no confusion between the compressed folder and the extracted folder (e.g. My Documents\extracted\15715).
  3. Open the extracted folder, and double-click on the DocPack.hta file (not the folder!). This will open a dedicated, stand-alone Internet Explorer window. Please ensure that you are running the DocPack.hta file from the extracted location or you will get an scripting error.
  4. The index data with OPEN links should now be visible in the browser window.
  5. The index data includes descriptors (Assessor Report, Draft Scopes, Deficiency Report, Corrective Action Sequence) and is ordered chronologically for your ease of review.

Mac Users please note: This system will work with the MAC with a couple of modifications. Rename the DocPack.hta file to DocPack.htm. This change will allow the file to be displayed in Safari. In addition, use the browser's back button when navigating. The back button on the actual document viewer page will not work.

Helpful Hint: If you want to keep several files open (deficiency report stays open while you move between corrective actions), you can run the DocPack.hta file again and maintain two browser windows.
